Defamation.

Defamation is the act of damaging the good name/ reputation of someone. This is an offence and one can sue someone for defaming him or her.

For one to prove defamation he must show that the other person said / published something capable of damaging his good name / reputation in the eyes of right thinking members of the community.

The defence available for one accused of defamation is him / her giving evidence to the effect that the information said or published is true.
